Watt‘s The Benefit of Compact Fluorescent Bulbs? ENERGY STAR indicates that compact fluorescent bulbs use up to 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs while providing the same amount of light output. They last up to 10 times longer, and give off less heat than standard bulbs. Several designs and sizes are available to replace bulbs in lamps, indoor and outdoor light fixtures, and recessed lighting. Current compact fluorescent bulbs are less expensive and offer better lighting quality than earlier models. If every American home replaced just one light bulb with an ENERGY STAR qualified bulb, we would save enough energy to light more than 3 million homes for a year, more than $600 million in annual energy costs, and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of more than 800,000 cars. So Green Guy says, "Save money while saving the environment AND save your neck from falling off those ladders changing light bulbs that burn out every few months" |
